I took these two photographs of water at the Huron River, and I chose this location because I go here often to think. Sometimes when I am stressed out I come to the Huron River and look at the water, allowing me to relax. I used horizon lines for a "low" horizon line to emphasize the sunset. I used different colors in both photographs to convey that my emotions range at the Huron River, since I am stressed. I used "levels" and "vibrance" to bring out the color and contrast of these pictures.
These landscapes are at mountain top in Kentucky, and I photographed them because this is a very special spot for my family. My family always vacations in Kentucky and it is a tradition for us to come to this mountain top, bringing our family closer together each time. I am trying to convey a feeling of happiness, which is shown through the titles and bright colors of the landscapes. I also included a clear shot of clouds to show that when I am in this location, I feel like I'm daydreaming. I used selective focus to show a clear and crisp shot of the cloud in "Daydream" and of the trees in "Optimism". I used balance to have an equal amount of clouds and mountains in each photograph. I used "brightness and contrast" to make the pictures light and more contrasted.
These landscapes are at a pond near my house, and I chose this location because it holds many treasured memories for me. As a child, I went to this pond many times and watched the sunset. Whenever I come here now, I feel like I'm a kid again. The message I'm trying to convey is that although something might change, it can still feel the same. I showed this by using "vibrance" and "curves" to change the color and brightness of the two landscapes. I also used the line of the lake meeting with land to be equal in both photographs. I chose to do this because I wanted to convey that although the colors are different, there is still a feeling of familiarity.
These photographs were taken on a forest pathway in Tennessee, because it is where I go for inspiration whenever I come to Tennessee. My dad has family in Tennessee, and they are very happy. We try to visit them as often as we can, and they are inspiring because of how happy they are. Whenever I see these mountains, that are outside of their house, I feel happy and determined to have a bright future. I conveyed this by using light and bright colors and using "vibrance" and "exposure". I also used natural lighting at a time of day when the sun wasn't right up in the air, allowing for contrast and detail to be shown.
These landscapes are in a forest near my house, and I photographed this location because I go here when I need time alone. When I am upset at someone or frustrated, I come here, because it is very quiet. I tried to convey this by having a bareness to the photographs and a sense of composure by being alone. I used "brightness and contrast" to make more a more subtle contrast. I also used "vibrance" to use more warm and calming colors, to show that this is a place where you go to calm down. I used the rule of thirds to have an equal amount of grass, trees, and sky in the photographs. I also used formal balance to put an equal balance in the top corners and the bottom corners of the landscapes.
